ABOUT RETAIL AUDIT

     About Retail Audit

Calculation of Weighted Distribution of the product in the group of markets is similar to aggregation of Numeric Distribution. However, unlike the Numeric Distribution, where the weighing factor is the universe, in this case, the weighting factor will be Sales Volume of the Category (for Standard Weighted Distribution).
A formula for calculation of Weighted Distribution in the group of markets (market 1, market 2 ... market N) is the following:

Weighted Distribution (group of N markets) = (Weighted Distribution market 1 * Category Sales Volume market 1 + …+ Weighted Distribution market N * Category Sales Volume market N ) ÷ (Category Sales Volume market 1 + … + Category Sales Volume market N)

Example: We need to calculate Weighted Distribution of Product X in two cities (City #1 and City #2)

 City #1City #2
Sales Volume of the Category, liters300 000800 000
Weighted Distribution of Product Х30%50%

       Weighted Distribution of Product Х (Cities 1+2) = (30%*300 000 +50%*800 000) ÷ (300 000 + 800 000) = 44,5%

And the same formula can be used to calculate Weighted Distribution in one market if we know its value in the group of markets and other markets from the groups.

Example: We know Weighted Distribution of Product X in Country #1 and Region #1 and need to calculate Weighted Distribution of Product X in the rest of Country #1.

 Country #1Region #1
Sales Volume of the Category, liters900 000700 000
Weighted Distribution of Product Х50%45%

       Weighted Distribution of Product Х (Country #1 without Region #1) = (50%*900 000 - 45%*700 000) ÷ (900 000 - 700 000) = 67,5%

Important note: It's not possible to aggregate Weighted Distribution of two (or more) different products within one market based on reported data, request to be sent to Retail Audit agency.
